Truman Rallies In The 2nd Half To Stun 12th Ranked Tiffin

Truman State rallied from 18 down in the second half to stun 12th ranked Tiffin 38-35 in Ohio this afternoon (Sat.). The Bulldogs got a four yard touchdown pass from Nolan Hair to Dante Ruffin to pull within 35-30 with 3:29 left. Josh Scheiderer then executed a successful onsides kick that gave the ball back to the ‘Dogs at midfield. Hair converted two big 4th down completions, including a pass to Matt Hall of Columbia down to the three yard line with 30 seconds left. This was the game-winner….

Brad Boyer with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. It was Schrader’s second rushing touchdown and he finished the day with 164 yards rushing on 32 carries. Hair then hit Hall for the two-point conversion.

Tiffin quarterback Nick Watson had the hot hand in the first half tossing as many touchdowns as incompletions, with four. Truman return specialist Jaylen Jefferson got one back after falling behind 21-7….

Scheiderer connected on a 46 yard field goal as time expired on the first half to make the score 28-17. Truman coach Gregg Nesbitt broke down the comeback…..

The Dragons scored on their first possession of the second half to make the score 35-17. Watson threw for 367 yards and Jalen Thomas had 12 receptions for 190 yards and two touchdowns. Nesbitt explained how the ‘Dogs defense shutout Tiffin over the last 28 minutes…..

Hair threw for 190 yards and two scores and ran for another 34 yards. Ruffin had seven catches for 65 yards and two TD’s. Hall had five receptions for 49 yards. His former Rock Bridge teammate, Peyton Carr, had the co-lead in tackles with nine, including a pair behind the line of scrimmage. Ben Thomas also had nine stops and two pass breakups.
