Truman Hosts UIndy With 2nd Place And A Possible Bowl Game On The Line

Second place and a possible America’s Crossroads Bowl bid is on the line when Truman State hosts Indianapolis to wrap up the regular season on Senior Day Saturday at Stokes Stadium. A Lindenwood win over McKendree would secure an NCAA playoff spot for the Lions, leaving the second place team representing the GLVC in the Crossroads Bowl. Bulldog coach Gregg Nesbitt is treating this like a playoff game…..

Truman is 8-2 and 4-2 in the GLVC like Indianapolis. UIndy was the pick in the preseason to win the league, but comes into the contest with a record of 6-4. Greyhounds coach Chris Keevers traces their struggles back to the GLVC spring championship game….

This game was trending toward being a showcase of running backs battling for the Division II rushing title, but UIndy’s Toriano Clinton went out with an injury two games ago. He was leading the country with 1,525 yards, and now Truman’s Cody Schrader is on top with 1,653 yards. Even with Clinton out last week, the Greyhounds had a back run for 154 yards and another rush for 98. Coach Nesbitt says that points toward a good offensive line….

Keevers says the Truman offense is more than Schrader….

Indianapolis beat Truman 46-29 on April 24th to win the GLVC spring championship game. Clinton rushed for 235 yards and Schrader was held to 19, but Nolan Hair threw for 316 yards and four touchdowns. Eight Bulldogs will be honored during Senior Day ceremonies before the game. We will have the UIndy at Truman broadcast on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com starting with the Truman Tailgate at 11:15. Brad, Eric Holm, and Hank will have the broadcast.
