Three New Positive COVID-19 Tests Postpone Cards vs Cubs Series

This weekend’s scheduled series between the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs has been postponed due to three additional positive COVID-19 tests within the Cardinals. President of Baseball Operations for the Cardinals, John Mozeliak, details the situation with the new cases.

Helsley is dealing with a low-grade fever, while both Dean and the staff member are asymptomatic. All of the new cases are believed to have stemmed from the Cardinals’ time in Milwaukee. Mozeliak says despite the new cases, there is some hope the Cardinals’ next series against Pittsburgh will be played.

Whether that series will be played will hinge on the Cardinals’ test results over the course of the weekend. Mozeliak says dealing with the outbreak over the past week has been a significant challenge.

Cardinals players and staff are continuing to be tested and quarantined at this time. The Cardinals’ next scheduled game is Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The team hasn’t played a game since July 29th due to the outbreak.
