Salisbury-Westran Rivalry Adds Another Chapter On Friday Night

The Salisbury Panthers entertain the Westran Hornets in a Lewis & Clark regular season finale. The Panthers enter Friday night’s contest 4-4 and are on a two game win streak after defeating Confluence Prep Academy 44-20. Salisbury coach Oren Magruder likes the direction his team is heading late in the season.

6-2 Westran looks to bounce back from a 14-13 loss at Marceline. The Hornets can still claim a part of the L&C title with a victory. Marshall Kitchen got the start at quarterback with Gage Adler sidelined due to injury. Kitchen rushed in a touchdown and finished with 56 yards. Coach Andrew Baxley likes what he saw from Kitchen and the offense.

Salisbury rushed for 249 yards in last week’s win. Patrick and Brayden White combined for 214 of those yards. Magruder expects the Westran defense to create some havoc on the field.

Westran’s last loss to Salisbury was a 21-7 defeat in October of 2015. Baxley says the rivalry between the schools is alive and well.

The most recent installment in the series was a 16-14 Hornet’s win in the district playoffs last year. You can hear Friday night’s game on 104.7 KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Coverage begins with the expanded pregame at 6:25. Steven Findley Jr will have the call.
