Ryan Walters will remain on Mizzou’s football staff as the defensive coordinator for Eli Drinkwitz. Walters, came to Mizzou in 2015 as safeties coach, and has served as defensive coordinator for the past two years. This season his defense ranked in the nation’s Top 20 in several major categories, including total defense and scoring defense, and was eighth in passing yards allowed. He began his coaching career as a student assistant at Colorado working with the secondary in 2009, and then spent two years on staff at Arizona, where he was a graduate assistant in 2010, before being promoted to defensive backs coach for the 2011 season. He was a graduate assistant cornerbacks coach at Oklahoma in 2012, and cornerbacks at North Texas in 2013 and Memphis in 2014.
