New Monroe City head girls basketball coach Adam Rung accepted the job last month after a decade as Clark County’s head boys coach. The Lady Panthers graduate four starters, including KRES All-Star Riley Quinn. Rung says he’s encouraged by Monroe City’s young talent.
Rung replaces Cody Leonard, who resigned after a nine-year run. Leonard remains Monroe City’s athletic director. Rung reflects on his Clark County tenure.
Rung’s Clark County boys won three straight Clarence Cannon Conference titles from 2016-18. The 2016 Indians captured the program’s first district championship since 1994.
Monroe City finished 23-3 last season, which marked the program’s fifth 20-win campaign in six years.
