North Shelby Completes Comeback; Atlanta Cruises

North Shelby and Atlanta punched its tickets to the district semifinal with wins Tuesday night.

The North Shelby Raiders overcame a double-digit deficit to upset the Brashear Tigers 55-54. A competitive first quarter that saw six lead changes ended 21-12 in Brashear’s favor. The Tigers extended the lead to end the second quarter.

Steven Findley Jr with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. North Shelby weathered the storm and got to within nine to begin the fourth. That’s when the Raiders made their late surge.

Five lead changes were exchanged from the 46-46 mark. Carson Erwin put Brashear ahead with a breakaway layup to make it 54-52. Freshman Gannon Bowen was fouled on the ensuing drive. Bowen converted the first, then had a chance to tie.

A Carson Erwin shot at the horn hit the side of the rim as time expired. Bowen led the Raiders with 17 points. He was complimented by Jade Daniel and Gabe Orr who finished with 14 and 12 points respectively. Coach Cody Stoneburner walked through the winning play.

Brashear led by as much as 15 in the third quarter. Carson Erwin had a team-high 25 points. Cole Erwin poured in 17. Coach Emily Powell.

Brashear’s season concludes at 14-10. North Shelby takes on top-seed Green City on Thursday.

Atlanta downed Bevier 75-25. JJ White scored 22 points to lead the Hornets. Coach Jason White said his team took care of business.

Bevier finishes the season 7-17. Atlanta faces Marion County in the next round.
