The NJCAA Board of Regents approved a plan Monday to drastically alter the calendar for athletics for the upcoming school year in response to the pandemic. Basketball practice would not start until January 11th, with the season starting January 22nd. The regular season, with a maximum of 22 games instead of the usual 30, would end March 27th. Teams can have up to five scrimmages in the fall. The national tournaments would begin April 19th. It would mean an even bigger change for football, with the 54 schools that offer the sport starting practice March 1st, with games starting March 25th, and the championship on June 3rd. Volleyball, wrestling, track and swimming would all resume practice on January 4th. Soccer is also moving from the fall to the spring.
