New Franklin Girls’ Season Comes to an End With Sectional Loss to Tipton

The New Franklin Lady Bulldogs saw their season come to an end with a 61-18 loss to the Tipton Lady Cardinals in a Class 2 Sectional at Jefferson City High School. Tipton held a 13-3 lead at the end of one quarter. After a trio of New Franklin free throws cut into the deficit the Lady Cardinals quickly regained control.

Colin Schowe with the call on KWIX and centralmoinfo.com. The Lady Cardinals went on to score 24 of the final 25 points in the second quarter to hold a commanding 37-7 halftime lead. Bailey added a trio of three-pointers to finish with eleven points. Myra Claas led the Lady Cardinals with 18. Despite the end result New Franklin coach Morgan Grosse said she liked her team’s defensive effort.

New Franklin’s 18 points came from its three seniors with Carly Dorson leading the way with nine points. Grosse said this was a special year for her senior class.

The Lady Bulldogs concluded the season at 20-9. Tipton improved to 28-1 and will face in Cairo in a Class 2 Quarterfinal on Saturday at Moberly Area Community College. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:45.
