New Faces Look to Lead Milan Football in 2021
In 2020 a senior-laden Milan Wildcat football team rolled to a 9-2 record with their season-ending in a district semifinal loss to Princeton. Graduates from the 2020 season included KRES All-Stars Dominic Dabney and Axel Pagan, as well as quarterback Mallan Cole. Milan coach John Dabney says some key returners are set to step into leadership roles in 2021.
At quarterback, last season Cole transferred in from Maysville for his senior season. Taking his place under center will be senior Michael Pipes. Dabney says Pipes looks ready to take over the starting role at quarterback.
Despite a younger team this season, Dabney says practices have been productive heading into the season.
Milan opens the season with a non-conference game at South Shelby August 27th. They will open Grand River Conference play at home against Putnam County in week three. You can hear our full interview with coach Dabney and other area coaches during the Kickoff Show Wednesday at 5:35 on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com
