National Corn Growers Association CEO Jon Doggett has been in Washington for more than three decades, and says he’s never seen a better outreach to agriculture than he’s experiencing with the Biden transition team.

Doggett says that Michael Regan, who is president-elect Joe Biden’s pick to head EPA, reached out to Doggett the day before the nomination was announced. Regan hosted several ag leaders including Doggett in a virtual conference Tuesday, where Doggett stressed the importance of renewable fuels.

Doggett told Regan during the conference that he hopes any carbon credit system devised by the administration and Congress will benefit producers directly. Regan is currently the environment quality leader for the state of North Carolina. He’ll need approval from the Senate before taking office as the EPA administrator.
