Morris Repeats As GLVC Field Athlete Of The Week

Truman State thrower Jacob Morris is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the second straight week, after breaking a second school record this past weekend at the Southwest Baptist Invite in Bolivar. Morris shattered the 1994 Hammer Throw record of Geoff Heskett (57.36m) by throwing 60.01 Friday evening in the event. That mark gave him a third place finish in the meet to go along with a personal best mark in the Javelin (57.45m), a fifth place finish in the Shot Put (16.04m) and a gold medal in the Discus (54.14m).

Morris is ranked first in the GLVC in both the Discus and Javelin, second in the Hammer and fourth in the Shot Put. He is leading Division II in the Discus and is seventh in the Hammer.
