The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a contract to Phillips Hardy, of Columbia, for a bridge replacement on Macon County Route D at LaPlata. The project will be the bridge over the BNSF Railroad, located just off U.S. 63 at LaPlata. The total cost of the project is approximately $1.8 million. This bridge carries over two thousand vehicles a day. The contractor has 120 calendar days to complete the project, with work beginning as early as this summer and should be completed by fall. The new bridge will 28 feet wide feet wide, which is 6 feet wider than the existing one, and will have additional safety features. The road will be closed during construction.

This bridge is included in Governor Mike Parson’s Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
