For the past three-and-a-half years the Marceline City Market has operated on Tuesdays at the Walsworth Community Center. The market provided producers the opportunity to sell their products to the community. However, earlier this week it was announced the market would be closing its doors. Committee Member for the Marceline City Market, Dennis VanDyke, explains the reason for the closure.

The Marceline City Market came to be as part of the recent Main Street Marceline Project.

During its existence, the market saw approximately 70 vendors pass through at one time or another. Usually, eight-to-twelve vendors were in attendance each week. VanDyke said various produce and other items were sold at the market.

VanDyke would like to thank those who made the Marceline City Market’s operation possible over the years. Residents are encouraged to check out the newly opened 3 1/2 Acres Market located on Highway 5.
