Lexi Miller Scores 40, Macon Sweeps Boonville in Doubleheader at MACC Holiday Shootout

The Macon Tigers and Tigerettes each earned victories over Boonville at the MACC Peak Sport and Spine Holiday Tournament Wednesday. The Tigerettes won 67-62, while the Tigers earned a 63-44 victory in the final game of the day.

In the girls game, the Tigerettes and Lady Pirates exchanged leads from start to finish in a rematch of the Centralia Invitational championship. In the final seconds of the fourth, Brooke Weimer delivered a crucial triple for the Tigerettes.

With the win, Macon snaps a seven-game losing streak to Boonville and improves to 7-2 on the season. On the other side, the Lady Pirates had three scorers in double figures for the game. Boonville head coach Jaryt Hunziker liked the balance his team displayed offensively.

Addison Brownfield led the Lady Pirates with 22 points, while Zoe Davis and Faith Mesik had 14 and 10 points, respectively. The Lady Pirates fall to 6-3 on the season with the loss.

In the boys game, Boonville jumped ahead early and held a seven point lead after one quarter. From there, the Tigers controlled the game and the rebounding category. Tigers head coach Dale Devenport admired his teams effort on the glass.

Offensively, Maurice Magruder finished with a team-high 12 points and a double-double in points and rebounds. Seven different Tigers scored at least five points in the game. Defensively, Devenport praised the way his team regrouped after the first quarter.

Luke Green led the Pirates with 10 points. Macon is now 7-2 on the year, while Boonville is 3-7.
