Lady Spartans Overwhelmed in Second Half, Seniors Cap Historic Two-Year Run

The Moberly Lady Spartans fell to the Lift For Life Lady Hawks in the state quarterfinals 86-57. After four early lead changes, Moberly climbed out of an 11-6 hole in the first quarter.

Moberly’s senior class includes the team’s all-time leading scorer Grace Billington, who finished in a tie for the game-high with 23 points.

Asa Fanning contributed 17. She averaged 20 points per game on 60 percent shooting this season.

Haley Baker took over as starting point guard this season after the graduation of four-year starter Kennedy Messer last year.

Savanna Orscheln started in the post and Kendereona Robinson appeared in 23 games off the bench.

The Lady Spartans reached the state quarterfinals again after making it for the first time in program history last year. Vestal says it goes beyond wins with this group.
