Kirksville Girls Golf Advances to State Championship

The Kirksville Lady Tigers golf team advanced to the Class 2 State Championship for the second year in a row with a second place finish at the district tournament at Heritage Hills Golf Course in Moberly today. The Lady Tigers shot 370 as a team to advance to the state championship in Bolivar next week. Coach Emily Powell said her team was resilient.

Powell added the Lady Tigers’ consistency has been a key reason for their success this season.

Sophomore Addison Davis paced the Lady Tigers with a score of 80, which ranked fourth among all individuals.

Davis outlines her mindset going into this year’s state tournament.

Anna Jenkins earned all-district honors for Kirksville with an 89 score and 7th place finish. Maya McKiver, Morgan Lunsford and Payton Schempp posted scores of 98, 103, and 116 for the Lady Tigers, respectively.

Osage won the district title with a team score of 354. Area individual state qualifiers include Bailey Pace and Tess Stephens from Centralia, Grace Ousley from Fulton, Avery Pemberton from Hallsville, Ella Goldinger and Ava Weiman from Palmyra, and Kennedi Rowe from Mexico.
