Green City Gophers Seize Third Place at MSHSAA Show-Me Showdown

A strong first and third quarters for Green City helped the Gophers take down Dadeville 66-50 in the Class 1 Boys 3rd Place Game. GC raced out to an 18-8 lead after one, but Dadeville countered with a 24-17 second quarter to make it a three point game at the half. The Gophers took the game over in the third with a 16-0 run.

Steven Findley Jr with the calls on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. Green City led by as much as 23 in the fourth. Seven different Gophers contributed points in the win. Coach Matt Ayers was pleased with his team’s approach.

Xander Salas scored 21 points to lead GC. Senior Asher Buggs-Tipton closed out his Gopher basketball career with a 19-point performance.

Green City graduates four seniors from the active roster. Ayers glanced ahead to next season.

The Gophers finish the season 28-3.
