Former GLVC Opponent Is The New Truman Women’s Basketball Assistant Coach

A former GLVC opponent is the new assistant women’s basketball coach for Truman State. Dajae Black will join coach Theo Dean’s staff and will also serve as recruiting coordinator for the Bulldogs.

Black has spent the past three seasons at the NCAA Division I level. She comes to Truman State after serving as an Assistant Coach at the University of Akron (Ohio) during the 2022-23 season. In her first season, Black helped lead Akron to a 17-13 record and the 2023 Mid-American Conference Tournament.

Prior to Akron, Black spent two seasons on staff with the Grand Canyon (Ariz.) University women’s basketball program. Black was a graduate assistant for the Lopes during the 2020-21 season, but was promoted to Director of Basketball Operations for the ’21-22 campaign.

A native of Chicago, Black was a four year member of the women’s basketball team at Lewis University, where she appeared in 97 games, including 37 starts. Black was also a four time recipient of the Dr. David Delahanty Award, which recognizes Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence. The Flyers went 93-34 (.795) during Black’s four-year career.
