Theo Dean’s first game as a head coach at any level will come against the University of Missouri! As classes were getting underway in late August at Truman State University, Shelby County native Amy Eagan resigned to become an assistant coach at Drury, and Dean was elevated to interim head coach. He spent the last three years as the Bulldogs’ full-time assistant.

The Bulldogs went 23-8 last season, including a 13-5 mark in the GLVC. Truman graduated five players including Rachel Edmundson and Brooke Bailey, who were second and third on the team in scoring. The Bulldogs return first team all-GLVC guard and leading scorer Sloane Totta, from Fulton, who averaged 11.6 points per game. Coach Dean will turn to one newcomer in the backcourt, in freshman Hannah Belanger from Grafton, Wisconsin….

Playing at Mizzou Arena will be a thrill for Columbia native Katey Klucking, who will get a shot at starting in this exhibition opener. Coach Dean says she showed her toughness in preseason practices….

Mizzou will start the post-Sophie Cunningham era, after the departure of the Columbia native to the WNBA. The Tigers are coming off another appearance in the NCAA tournament and finished with a record of 24-11. Three highly decorated freshmen in Aijha Blackwell (St. Louis), Haley Frank (Strafford), and Micah Linthacum (Jefferson City) will try to fill the gap left by personnel losses.
