Community R-6 Season Ends With Shutout Loss to Cooter
A historic season for the Community R-6 baseball team came to an end Tuesday afternoon with a 7-0 loss to the Cooter Wildcats in the Class 1 Third Place game.  The Trojans fell behind in the first inning on a Hayden Nazarenus RBI triple.  The Wildcats then broke the game open in the third as Luke Barnes got the scoring started with an RBI single.  Three batters later Brayson Green came to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs.

Colin Schowe with the call on KTCM 97.3 and centralmoinfo.com.  Green added a sacrifice fly in a two-run fifth inning to cap the day’s scoring.  The Trojans were shutout for the second day in a row.  However, they had scoring opportunities in the first three innings.  Community coach Joel Krato said the timely hits just didn’t come.

The Trojans were outhit for the game 9-5 as Nazarenus pitched a complete game shutout for the Wildcats.  Senior Gavin Allen went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Trojans.  He also struck out seven batters in five-and-two-thirds innings pitched.  The Trojans graduate four seniors off a team that finishes with a school record 19 wins.  Krato reflected on his senior class.

Cooter concludes the season at 25-7.
