CMU Wrestling Coach Resigns

Central Methodist University Head Wrestling Coach Sam Schmitz announced his resignation on Monday. Schmitz was able to turn around CMU Wrestling in one year, ending with the women’s program finishing seventh and the men 14th in the NAIA. Five Eagles punched their tickets to the NAIA National Championships in Wichita in mid-March. The postseason concluded with the first two NAIA All-Americans in program history in Donald Griffin (fifth, 157 pounds) and Elijah Hynes (eighth, 197 pounds).

Griffin and King were named the Heart Newcomer and Heart Co-Freshman of the Year respectively.
