Cairo’s Second-Half Frenzy Lifts Ladycats to Sectional Win Over St. Elizabeth

Cairo weathered the storm in the first half to take down St. Elizabeth 58-53 in the Class 1 sectional round.

The Lady Hornets got out to a nine point lead early in the second. St. Elizabeth maintained the lead for a 28-22 halftime score. Cairo sophomore Mallori Hankins injected life into the Ladycats comeback.

Macie Harman also got going for Cairo in the third, scoring seven of her twelve points in the frame.

The Ladycats 42-39 lead at the end of three held the rest of the way as Cairo would not let St. Elizabeth back in front.

The Lady Hornets were led by sophomore Regan Wobbe with 21 points. Winkler said his team settled down after falling behind 6-0.

Cairo will play at Meadville in a Big K state quarterfinal matchup on Friday. We will have a broadcast on KRES.
