Brashear and Green City Faceoff in Tri-County North Doubleheader

Green City will travel to Brashear Tuesday night for a varsity basketball doubleheader. The girls’ game will be a rematch from the Novinger Tournament where Brashear defeated the Lady Gophers 37-36 for the consolation trophy. Brashear girls’ coach Emily Powell analyzes the rematch with Green City.

The Lady Tigers come into the contest with wins in their last two Tri-County North Conference games. They’re led by junior Lacey Fisher who averages 14 points a game. Green City comes into the game 4-12 and have lost their last seven games. The Lady Gophers’ last win came in a 40-23 victory over Stanberry on December 17th.

The Green City boys enter their game with Brashear ranked third in Class 1. Asher Buggs-Tipton leads a balanced Gopher attack with 19.7 points per game. Meanwhile, the Gophers’ defense is holding opponents to an average of 43 points a game. Green City boy’s coach Matt Ayers says his team looks forward to going into tough road environments.

Brashear will look to disrupt the battle between Green City and Atlanta at the top of the Tri-County North standings. The Tigers come into the game with a 4-2 conference record. Brashear boy’s coach Shelbi Followwill says they’re looking forward to the test from a state-ranked opponent.
