The Missouri Department of Conservation has announced Holly Whitacre as the new conservation educator for its Northeast Region. Whitacre has served as a first grade teacher at Kirksville Primary School since 2015. Prior to that, she spent eight years as a fourth grade teacher for the La Plata Elementary School. Over the course of her teaching career Whitacre has consistently engaged her students by using Missouri Department of Conservation resources. She will begin her new role as conservation educator for the Northeast Region June 1st. Whitacre will provide opportunities for teachers to work with the Missouri Department of Conservation’s Discover Nature Schools program. The Northeast Region covers Randolph, Putnam, Schuyler, Sullivan, Adair, Linn, Macon, and Chariton counties.
