A Trio Of Interception Returns Help Truman Pick Off a Win At McKendree

Truman State returned three interceptions for touchdowns to pile up points quickly and pull away from McKendree for a 56-24 win, in Lebanon, Illnois, this afternoon (Sat.). Two plays after Nolan Hair connected with Chris Kerr for a 25 yard touchdown pass in the first quarter, a defensive lineman got the first “pick six”….

Brad Boyer with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. The Bearcats cut the deficit to 14-10 with 3:15 left in the first half. Six plays and less than two minutes later, the Bulldogs responded with a Jake Butchco two-yard TD run to make it 21-10 at halftime.

The Bulldogs pulled away in the second half with 28 unanswered points, including two more interception returns….

In between those two scores, Mason Huskey broke off a 60 yard touchdown run to go over 100 yards rushing for the third time this season, with 112 yards.

The Bulldogs had three turnovers in the first half. Coach Gregg Nesbitt said his team stopped the giveaways and took charge in the second half….

Nolan Hair threw two touchdown passes to get to 50 for this career. Isaiah Estes of Fayette had a fourth interception for Truman.

In winning their conference opener, the Bulldogs improves to 5-0. McKendree remains winless. Truman will host Quincy next Saturday. You can hear the game on KRES starting at 12:15.
