Adam Wainwright will have at least one more season in a Cardinals uniform. The team announced Tuesday it has agreed to terms with the free-agent pitcher for a one-year deal. The 38-year-old enters his 16th season, thirrd-most seasons as a pitcher for the franchise after Jesse Haines and Bob Gibson. Wainwright is fourth all-time in team wins with 162, second in strikeouts, and sixth in innings pitched. He ranks eighth among active pitchers in wins, 14th in strikeouts and ninth in ERA. Wainwright went 14-10 last season with a 4.19 ERA in 31 starts.
