Truman Sweeps UMSL-Bulldog Women Record Winning Streak

The Truman women broke the program record for longest winning streak, while the men lit it up from outside in a sweep at Missouri-St. Louis Thursday night.

The Bulldog women won their ninth in a row, while snapping UMSL’s 10-game winning streak in a 69-62 victory. It came just three days after ending Drury’s 14-game winning streak. Clinging to a one point lead Katey Klucking of Columbia came up with the basket of the game with just over a minute left….

Brad Boyer with the call on Superstation KRES and centralmoinfo.com. The Bulldogs got four straight free throws from Ellie Weltha and Allison Thomas to finish off the win. Thomas scored 14. Hannah Belanger led all scorers with 23. Coach Theo Dean reacted to the record streak….

The Bulldogs improve to 8-1 in the GLVC and 12-5 overall. The Tritons lost for the first time in seven tries in conference play and drop to 10-2.

The Truman men hit 15-of-25 three-pointers and held on to beat UMSL 79-72….

That barrage was part of a 14-point run that helped the Bulldogs build a 38-23 lead at halftime. That margin would increase to 20 before the Tritons rallied and got as close four late. Masen Miller scored a career-high 27 points including seven triples….

Cade McKnight added 19 points. The Bulldogs won for the eighth time in nine games to improve to 12-3 overall and have the most wins in GLVC play at 6-1. UMSL drops to 5-3 in the conference and 11-4 overall, with half their losses to the Bulldogs.

The Truman teams will continue the St. Louis metro swing with a doubleheader at Lindenwood on Saturday. Our broadcast on KRES will begin at 12:45. No fans are being allowed at Lindenwood.
