Rivals Milan and Putnam County to Faceoff in Grand River Opener
The Milan Wildcats will host their rivals the Putnam County Midgets Friday night at Cal Hubbard Field. The game will serve as the Grand River Conference opener for both teams. Milan comes into the matchup 0-2 after a pair of two-point losses to South Shelby and Harrisburg. Despite the losses, Milan coach John Dabney likes the way his young team is progressing.
Milan’s defense pitched a shutout last season at Putnam County with a 32-0 victory. However, Putnam County’s offense has appeared revitalized under junior quarterback Blaine Perkins this season. Dabney discusses the keys to slowing down this athletic offense.
