Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced an implementation of a $600 Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation Program, and a Workers’ Compensation program for First Responders during his Coronavirus briefing Tuesday afternoon. Governor Parson says over 100,000 Missourians have filed for unemployment this past week.

The last payable week for the $600 supplement will be the week ending on July 25th. If an employer offers sick leave and/or other leave options to address COVID-19 in lieu of layoffs, then a person who quits on his/her own volition would not qualify for unemployment benefits.

As for the first responders, Parson said they are more likely to contract the virus in the line of duty, and as a result, the state wants to take care of them.

3,037 of the 33,820 tests conducted in Missouri have come back positive for COVID-19.
