One Dead and Two Injured in Cole County Accident

A Jefferson City woman died from injuries sustained in an accident in Cole County Tuesday morning. The State Highway Patrol says 46-year-old Mlinda Hammond failed to stop at a stop sign on Route U at Highway 50 south of Centertown around 7:55 Tuesday morning. As she crossed the eastbound lanes of Highway 50, she hit an SUV driven by 57-year-old Tammy Meisenheimer of California. Hammond died from her injuries less than an hour later. Meisenheimer had serious injuries and was taken to Columbia. A passenger in Hammond’s vehicle, 24-year-old Brittney Summers of Jefferson City, also had serious injuries and was taken to Columbia.
