Moberly Wins Regular Season Finale Over Macon

The Moberly Spartans pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat the Macon Tigers 54-41 in the final game of the regular season.

Eight different Spartans registered points in the first half. Macon tied things up in the third behind a pair of three-pointers.

Steven Findley Jr with the call on KWIX and centralmoinfo.com. The Tigers trailed by seven at the end of three. Moberly junior Mason Bivins took over the game in the fourth.

Bivins produced 10 of his 19 points in the final frame. The Spartans secured their 12th win. Coach Brett Boyer reflected on the regular season.

Macon senior Jonathan Bray paced his team with 12 points. Coach Dale Devenport.

Both teams will compete in the first round of the Class 4 District 8 tournament on Tuesday. Moberly will face Kirksville for the third time this season. Boyer said his team is hungry for a district win.

Macon takes on Centralia in the district quarterfinal. Devenport said it’s a chance for his team to make some noise.

Mexico and Hallsville are the top seeds in the tournament.
