Hinton Brings Strong Football Mindset to Fayette
While Kole Hinton will be serving his first year ever as a head football coach this fall at Fayette, that doesn’t mean he’s short on coaching knowledge. The Central Methodist football alum has spent the past six years as an assistant coach at Columbia’s three public schools. Hinton says that experience was valuable.
Rock Bridge averaged 36 points-per-game this past season under Hinton’s stewardship. He says coaching at the Columbia schools taught him some important lessons to carry into the future.
Hinton started his playing career at Rock Bridge. He moved to Battle High School following its opening in 2013. In 2014 the Spartans captured a state title with the help of Hinton in his senior year. All four of those years saw Hinton play under current Hallsville head coach Justin Conyers. Hinton says Conyers shaped him as a player and a coach.
Hinton takes over a Fayette program that went 6-5 this past season. The Falcons compiled a 29-16 record during Mike Thompson’s four-tenure. Thompson left Fayette last month to take a job as Fatima’s athletic director and assistant principal.
