Major flooding is occurring Friday morning in the city of Columbia. Meteorologist Brad Charboneau is with the National Weather Service in St. Louis.

Columbia has received more than five inches of rain. Charboneau expects a break in the widespread showers from late morning into the afternoon, but more heavy rainfall is on the way.

Charboneau had no details about a possible tornado touchdown near Shelbina and Marion County. There were tornado warnings last night in parts of Shelby, Monroe, Audrain, Lewis, and Marion Counties. A meteorologist with The National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill said they will be looking into the possible touchdown of a tornado in the Green City area. Scott Lunte provided continuous radar coverage on KRES into the early morning hours.
