Westran Clinches Share of Lewis and Clark Title With Walkoff Win

The Westran Hornets beat Schuyler County 1-0 on Tuesday to clinch a share of the Lewis & Clark Conference title with Harrisburg. Coach Tyler Tanner said Cooper Harvey provided shutdown pitching on the mound.

Harvey then drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the seventh of a scoreless game. One of the Hornets’ two seniors, Rick Stephenson, brought Harvey in with the winning hit. Tanner praised Stephenson’s growth in his senior season.

The win gave the Hornets their first taste of the L&C title since 2015. Tanner said this should provide a boost to his team.

The Hornets close the regular season against Cairo on Monday and Atlanta on Tuesday.
