Columbia Regional Airport has announced that United Airlines will indefinitely suspend flights at the airport, effective January 4th. The airline cited limited resources and staffing impacts caused by the ongoing pandemic. Columbia Regional is one of eight locations being impacted as the airline works to stabilize the regional markets it serves. United has had service at Columbia Regional since August 2017, and currently operates two daily outbound flights to Chicago O’Hare. City Manager John Glascock says improvements to the airport will continue as scheduled, with a runway extension scheduled to be completed in December and the construction of a brand-new terminal scheduled to be complete next summer.
