Truman Postseason Push Starts With Maryville At The GLVC Tourney

Truman State goes for its 20th win in the quarterfinals of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Women’s Postseason Tournament tonight (Fri) against Maryville. More importantly, the Bulldogs will try to add wins to their NCAA Tournament resume. Eight teams qualify from each region and this week Truman sat 10th in the Midwest Region rankings.

The Bulldogs went 15-5 in the GLVC regular season and are the three seed in the tournament. Six-seed Maryville went 10-10 including an overtime loss at Pershing Arena in January. Truman coach Theo Dean said the earlier matchup is typical of what these Bulldog-Saints matchups produce…..

The two teams have played 21 games against each other and 11 have finished with a final margin of victory of six points or fewer, including four overtime games. The Bulldogs needed a three-pointer by Hannah Belanger with ten seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime. The GLVC Player of the Year finished with 26 points. Maryville First Team All-GLVC guard Antoinette Mussorici (moo-so-REE-see) scored 33 in the loss. Dean also spoke about changing the teams mindset going into the postseason…
