Trenton’s Claycomb Shines Bright From Niche In Dairy Industry
Cade Claycomb sought to fill a niche not common in Northern Missouri, establishing a dairy herd on his family’s farm outside Trenton. That decision put him on the path toward winning this year’s State Star Farmer award from Missouri FFA. Claycomb says his herd has expanded significantly in the years he’s run it.
The milk from Claycomb’s Jersey and crossbred cows is delivered to a processor in Kansas City. He says seeing another Trenton FFA member, Kidridge Griffin, win star farmer honors in 2021 inspired him to pursue more opportunities in FFA.
Claycomb plans to attend Oklahoma State University this fall, before returning to the family farm.
Cade Claycomb of Trenton will represent Missouri in the American Star Farmer awards during this fall’s National FFA Convention in Indianapolis.
