Spartans Return to Action Against Oak Grove

After nine days off the Moberly boys basketball team returns to live action when they host the Oak Grove Panthers Friday night. The Spartans dropped their season opener to Monroe City 50-48 in overtime on November 21st. Coach Brett Boyer feels the layoff has been beneficial for his team.

Boyer discusses some of the focuses in practice for the Spartans.

Mason Bivins led the Spartans with 17 points in the season opener. The Spartans handled Oak Grove 53-29 last season. However, the Panthers come in with a 2-0 record with those wins coming against Richmond and Lone Jack. Boyer says the Panthers are a completely different team from last season.

Former South Shelby head coach Ethan Shackelford is in his second year leading Oak Grove. He is in the process of improving on a 4-22 record in his first season with the Panthers. Pregame coverage of Moberly and Oak Grove will begin at approximately 6:45 on KWIX AM and FM, as well as online at centralmoinfo.com. Colin Schowe will have the play-by-play.
