Slater Man Killed in Saline County Accident

One person was killed and another seriously injured in a Saline County accident just before 11 Monday morning. The State Highway Patrol reports an SUV driven by 63-year-old Donnita Friend of Slater was traveling westbound on MO 240, east of Marigold Avenue, when it traveled off the right side of the roadway and overcorrected before traveling off the left side of the roadway, striking a ditch, overturning and striking a fence. The SUV came to rest on its top facing east and a passenger, 61-year-old James Friend of Slater, was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Donnita was flown to Columbia.
