UPDATE: Sheriff Wilson Explains How a 20-hour Standoff With Thorp Ended East of Moberly

After a 20-hour standoff with law enforcement, 59-year-old Stephen Thorp of Moberly has been arrested. Thorp barricaded himself inside a home along County Road 2360 east of Moberly. He was wanted on a warrant for parole violation for second-degree murder. Randolph County Sheriff Aaron Wilson says the standoff ended after 4am Tuesday.

U.S. Marshals were looking for Thorp Monday when it was determined he was at that home. Two other adults who had been inside got out safely. Wilson says there were numerous tense moments during the standoff.

About 50 members of law enforcement from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Moberly Police Department, U.S. Marshals, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and multiple SWAT teams were at the scene.
