It was announced last week that current North Park Elementary Principal David Samuel was named the new Cairo Superintendent. Samuel is currently in his third year as North Park Principal. He has worked in the Moberly School District since 2011. Samuel explains what led him to the superintendent position at Cairo.

Samuel will take over for Darren Rapert, who announced his retirement back in November. Rapert is just the third superintendent at Cairo over the past 40 years. Samuel says he’s looking to maintain the legacy of the Cairo superintendents that came before him.

Samuel adds communication will be key in his new role as superintendent.

Samuel plans to attend Cairo School Board meetings and some days of school to help with the transition process. He will officially takeover as Cairo Superintendent on July 1st.
