The Salisbury softball team is entering the 2020 season attempting to repeat as Class 1 State Champions. However, they will be doing so under a new head coach. The man who led them to past playoff glory, Nate King, has stepped down as the head varsity coach of Salisbury. King will instead coach the Salisbury Junior High softball team in order to coach his daughter. Last season, King led Salisbury to their first state title since 2002. The state title win avenged a loss to Maysville in the 2018 State Championship game. The Lady Panthers compiled a record of 22-5 in 2019 under King. Former assistant coach Kathryn Bachtel will take over as the new varsity coach of the Lady Panthers. She will be assisted by Sidney Cook.
