Salisbury Wins The Class 1 State Golf Tournament-2nd Title This Year For Wyatt And The Panthers

It’s a double-championship year for Salisbury boys athletics and coach Kenny Wyatt. The Panthers improved their score by 19 strokes and ran away with the Class 1 State Golf Championship at the Columbia Country Club today (Tues.). Salisbury finished with a score of 328, which was 24 strokes clear of Gallatin. The Panthers had two All-Staters in Nolan Gordon, who tied for 5th, with a two-day score of 155, and Jaxon Green, who finished 9th, at 159. Elliot Carter and Jace Carter improved their score by a combined 15 strokes and finished tied for 26th and tied for 40th respectively. Tyson Parker finished 70th. Coach Kenny Wyatt….

Wyatt and the Panther boys basketball team claimed a state championship in March……

To top off Wyatt’s day, his third grandchild was born. This is the second state title for Salisbury boys golf to go with the championship won in 2004.

Marceline tied for 6th at 738, but was only six strokes from third place. The Tigers had two All-State golfers in Braden Lichtenberg, who tied for 7th with a 158, and Lance O’Dell, who finished 14th at 168.

Trevor Biggerstaff of Canton shot a 74 on day two to move up to a tie for 3rd place, five strokes behind state champion Asher Rust of Ash Grove (149).

All three South Shelby golfers earned All-State medals at the Class 2 State Tournament at Rivercut Course in Springfield. Casen Glover finished 5th with a score of 160, Jaaron Durbin placed 8th with a 164, and P.J. Schmidt was in a four-way tie for 12th at 167.

Hallsville finished sixth in the team standings, at the Class 3 State Tournament at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield. Defending champion Logan Cox made a day two run with a 71 and tied for 3rd place, three strokes behind Timothy Johnston of Bishop LeBlond. One of the round one leaders, Andrew Fallis of Father Tolton tied for 5th place.
