Salisbury Seeks Final Four Passage Against Clopton

The Salisbury Panthers look to make their second trip to the Show-Me Showdown in three years when they face Clopton in a Class 2 Quarterfinal Friday night at Moberly Area Community College. The fifth-ranked Panthers defeated previously unbeaten Lincoln 52-45 in Monday’s sectional round. The win came despite the Panthers having only four players in the scoring column. Salisbury coach Kenny Wyatt said that was an unusual game from an offensive standpoint.

They face a Clopton team that enters the game with a 21-8 record and are unranked in Class 2. The Hawks outlasted Canton 47-45 in overtime in the Sectional round. Wyatt says they provide an interesting matchup for the Panthers.

Clopton features a balanced scoring attack with Tyler Kuntz leading the team with 14.6 points-per-game. Brothers Cash and Kain Eivins both average twelve a game. The Hawks reached the sectional round last year before falling to Putnam County. Clopton coach Tony Francis says his team did a good job sticking together in this year’s opening-round contest.

Francis adds the biggest challenge for his team in the quarterfinal round will be mental.
