The American Red Cross and the family of Bridget Kurz are conducting a blood drive in her memory for the 12th year in a row. Amanda Clark of the Red Cross says the event is a way for the family of Kurz to give back.

The blood drive takes place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Kirksville. Clark says the Red Cross has an emergency blood shortage and outlined ways to schedule an appointment to donate.

Clark says the app is helpful in that you can fill out your questionnaire in advance to save time at the appointment and track your donations over time.
