Possail Stepping Down as Columbia College Women’s Basketball Head Coach

The end of the 2021-22 basketball season will be the last one for Columbia College women’s basketball head coach Taylor Possail. Possail made the announcement on his Twitter page Monday afternoon that he would be stepping down at the end of the season to focus on his family. Possail has spent the past eight years at Columbia College. He began his time with the Cougars as a graduate assistant followed by two years as an assistant coach. This is Possail’s fifth year as Columbia’s head coach. To date, he has guided the Cougars to a record of 114-29, including a 17-5 record for this season.

Possail’s replacement has already been determined. Current Columbia College Athletic Director James Arnold will take over the head coaching role beginning April 1st. Arnold will become the fourth head coach in the program’s history. He has spent the past three years as Columbia’s athletic director. Arnold has previously served as the head women’s basketball coach at Westminster College, Central Methodist, Highland Community College, and North Central Missouri College. He has compiled over 250 wins in his head coaching career.
