One-Year Anniversary Of The Great Wooldridge Fire

This is the one-year anniversary of the wildfire that devastated the Cooper County town of Wooldridge. Tim Scherrer has written a book “Half the Town Burned: The Great Wooldridge Fire of 2022”. On KWIXland This Morning this week, Scherrer said it took the largest mutual aid response in state history to keep the wildfire from spreading even further.

Warm Springs Ranch houses the Clydesdales. I-70 was closed due to the smoke forcing the homecoming crowd leaving Mizzou to find alternate routes home. No one was killed in the fire, but Scherrer said it was still a tragedy for the residents.

The book “Half the Town Burned: The Great Wooldridge Fire of 2022” is available for sale on lulu.com. The fire reunion and launch of the book will take place Sunday near the community building at Wooldridge at 3, which is the hour the wildfire started.
