One Person Killed, One Injured in Kirksville Structure Fire

A morning structure fire in Kirksville has left one man dead and one man injured. The Kirksville Fire Department responded to the structure fire in the 500 block of West Elizabeth Street just after 9 am this morning. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the structure. They were able to locate a man inside the building and move him to safety. The victim was later transported from the scene by helicopter to receive medical treatment for serious injuries. Once the fire was brought under control, fire crews conducted a thorough search of the building and discovered a second man dead within the structure. The structure sustained heavy fire, smoke, and heat damage throughout. The Kirksville Police Department and the Missouri Division of Fire Safety’s Office of the State Fire Marshal are currently investigating the fire.
