Notable Changes for 2022-23 Deer Season

While the beginning of the 2022-23 Missouri Deer Season is still more than a month away, hunters are reminded of some notable changes for the upcoming season. Knox County Conservation Agent Dustin Snead says one has to do with the state’s antler point restriction.

The antler point restriction requires antlered deer to have at least four points on one side in order to be taken. The restriction applies to counties that aren’t within the state’s Chronic Wasting Disease Management Zone. Another change applies to mandatory sampling for CWD.

Snead explains why Knox is among the counties that will no longer be required to conduct mandatory CWD sampling.

Missouri’s new deer season begins with its archery season on September 15th. The early portion of the firearms deer season begins November 12th.
